Be a Part of the Team…
Hillside House is always seeking compassionate and skilled staff who are interested in being part of our team. We offer a positive, supportive and flexible environment in which employees are carefully trained and encouraged to grow. The family feeling of Hillside House, our dedicated staff, and our remarkable residents make Hillside House a rewarding place to work. This is reflected in the fact that so many of our staff choose to stay with us year after year. As of March, 2008, the average length of employment of a Hillside House staff member is 7 years!
Working at Hillside House is a rewarding experience. The residents of Hillside House are an extraordinary group of people who work to overcome obstacles and realize their dreams every day. They are some of the most loving, inspiring, and appreciative people you will ever meet. Each day presents many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of our residents. You are not only a caregiver, you are part of the Hillside House tradition of helping physically and mentally challenged people lead the fullest life available to them. Our employees tell us repeatedly that their own lives are enriched by this work.
“I came to work for a couple of hours part-time and then I ended up staying because of the residents. The more I was here the more I liked being here. The staff is great! Everyone is so committed to making these people’s lives work. It is so fulfilling to be a part of helping the residents build enough confidence to gain independence in their lives.”
–Gail Metzger, Director of Operations, 23 years of service
“I love the family atmosphere! Over the years I have enjoyed developing relationships with these unique and wonderful people and their families. I am inspired by the residents and their perseverance despite all of the challenges that they face.”
–Susan Bradford, Recreational Therapist, 27 years of service
The people who call Hillside House home depend on a caring community to survive. Thanks to the support of our volunteers, residents get to do things that wouldn’t ordinarily be possible, things like arts and crafts, karaoke, BINGO, fitness games, gardening, and other activities that happen sporadically throughout the week. Volunteers can also opt to help with clerical duties or fundraising. They can also take residents on relaxing strolls around the property. If you’re interested in volunteering, contact either Melissa Bennett, Director of Programs, or Jessica Thumm, Assistant Director of Programs. Their emails are email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. Or simply fill out a volunteer application and email it to Melissa or Jessica. They will call you to talk about scheduling an orientation. Our residents will happily dance, sing, or play along with any entertainment or activity you wish to share!
